Isabella Sinclaire

While I’m on the subject of professional domination, here’s a recent podcast featuring Isabella Sinclaire. It’s kind of long at just over an hour, and targeted at a mainstream audience, but it has some interesting thoughts on her career, life outside work, style of play, etc. I was particularly intrigued by her comments about working with couples where both identify as submissive. She feels that the 50 shades films triggered a lot of exploration of BDSM, but people often discovered they both wanted to bottom, and so came to her to learn how they could switch as needed.

If you’ve not heard of her before, I think it’s safe to say she’s one of the most well known pro-dommes in the US. I’ve featured her in the past (e.g. here and here), she runs a well known fetish production company and she hit the mainstream via this ad.

If you’re interested in a professional session with Isabella, then her site is here.

Service dynamics

As well as dipping my toe back into kinky waters in San Francisco, I’ve also been indulging my fetish for fine dining. I love great food, but I also enjoy observing the theater the goes along with high end restaurants. It’s almost like a roleplay, combing drama, craftsmanship and a finely tuned business machine. It’s designed to make every customer feel like they have a unique and personal experience, while at the same time making it endlessly reproducible.

The customer/server dynamic in these restaurants always intrigues me. There’s an element of D/s in it, but who plays what role can be highly variable. I had a great meal at a restaurant I’ll call AC in San Francisco, and experienced two very different servers. One made me feel pampered and that every little need was taken care of. The other had a quietly superior vibe that pushed all my internal submissive buttons. I imagined that if a drop of sauce was spilt she might force me to lick it up. The former’s philosophy seemed to be “I really hope you like it…” while the latter was “You better damn well like it…” You can probably guess who I enjoyed interacting with the most.

In the zone

I liked this short article on BDSM as a form of meditation. It doesn’t go into a lot of detail, but it captures some of my feelings on certain types of BDSM play. I’m by no means an expert on the topic, but the mindful meditation it describes does remind me of subspace.

Some activities seem to lend themselves more than others to this kind of mental state. Personally I’ve found that needle play (particularly when decorative), heavy bondage and very formalized corporal punishment are particularly good for it. Moments of stillness combined with ritual and rhythm definitely help. In contrast things like predicament bondage, electrical play and energetic fucking really don’t work. They’re fun, but tend to constantly pull your mind out of the zone and into the moment.

MomentHere’s a nice shot of someone enjoying a moment with Cybill Troy. I wonder if he’s feeling particularly meditative?

Stylish puppy and Mistress

Continuing the puppy theme with a particularly fashionable and posed pair. Typical BDSM dog hoods are heavy on the BDSM and less of the dog aspect. This is clearly shooting for a much more realistic look. Personally I find it drifts a little bit into uncanny valley territory, but I have to admire the attention to detail.

No matter how he tried, He could not break free.

I have to love a domme who uses the tagline – “Putting the fun back into femdom“. This is from a scene earlier this year, featuring Mistress Alice with a custom built bondage rig, a rubber catsuit and a voice activated tens unit. No matter how much she teases him, I doubt he’s going to be able to get free of that rig.

Latex Fashion

Jezebel recently published a lengthy article/interview with Sonia Agostino. If you don’t recognize that name (and I didn’t), she’s a fashion designer specializing in latex. Her most recent claim to fame is providing the outfits for Kylie Jenner in her recent controversial photoshoot.

I thought it was interesting because she repeatedly emphasizes her lack of interest in fetish and kink. She originally started with the Baroness – who is very much a fetish designer – yet has evolved to use latex outside a specifically fetish focused scene. I think her work presents an interesting question – can you create non-fetish fashion from a material inextricably linked to fetish? I’m not sure she’s succeeded in that yet. Celebrities who wear her clothes seem to do so to create an alternative/edgy/kinky image. People still like latex for the fetishistic message that comes along with it, even if the clothing is interesting and elegant in it’s own right. Personally, I hope she succeeds in broadening the appeal of latex. It’s a fun material and I’d love to see non-kinky friends of mine trying it out.

Dark lady of the Sith

I haven’t seen the new movie yet, but I’m not above jumping on the bandwagon as it rolls by. Mistress Vader would make a great addition to the scene I featured in a previous Halloween themed post.

It would be pretty fun to play with a kinky Sith Lady. That choking thing Vader does in the original movies would make for some pretty hot breathplay. And as a fan of electrical play, I can also imagine having fun with the force lightening bolts. Probably best to leave the lightsabers in the closet however. They would count as extreme edge play.

Dommes & Toys

After my naked ass in the last post, here’s something a little more visually pleasing. The photographer Mete Ozeren has done a sequence of shots featuring NYC pro-dommes and the toys they use. Unfortunately there is not a lot of additional context provided beyond the images themselves. As far as I can tell (based on the filenames) the toys featured are not necessarily the toys of choice of the pro-dommes in the interleaved photographs. However, I believe the whip below does belong to Ms Maya Midnight, who is featured in the other image. I discovered this set of images via Ms Maya Midnights twitter feed.

The yodeling dominatrix

There are some words you never expect to see next to each other. For example, ‘joyful’ and ‘coroner’ or perhaps ‘Donald Trump’ and ‘modest’. Until today I would have put ‘yodeling’ and ‘dominatrix’ in that category, but thanks to a pointer from this article on Manuela Horn, I stand corrected. If you really want to blow your mind with unusual juxtapositions I give you the yodeling dominatrix singing AC/DC’s highway to hell.

If I’m going to be pedantic (and I usually am), then I might quibble about the dominatrix bit. She certainly has a fine line in fetishistic outfits, but I’m not sure I see any evidence of BDSM play or general sadism. Unless you count yodeling at people, which personally I would.

If you’re in Spokane in October then you can catch up with her at Oktoberfest. For those not in the Washington state area, I leave you with another image of unusual juxtapositions. If there’s someone out there who has been fantasizing about sitting in a paddling pool, wearing a panda suit, playing an accordion, while an attractive lady in an odd fetish outfit holds your leash, then today is your lucky day.

Half a decade of perverted sexual practices

This blog is 5 years old today. Happy birthday and hip-hip-hooray!

Since it started in 2010 there have been 1,626 posts (an average of 6.5 posts per week), and 3,703 comments. I don’t find the age particularly amazing, but the number of posts and comments does shock me. If I guestimate 30 minutes to write a post, and assume a 8 hour work day, that’s around 20 work weeks of nothing but blogging from 9-5. Or, doing the maths another way, at a glass of wine per post, that’s 271 bottles of Bordeaux.

I started it originally because the blog I wanted to read didn’t exist. I therefore thought I could write something to entertain myself and maybe others like me. I also thought I could impress lots of dominant women with my wit and wisdom, and thereby attract many offers of kinky shenanigans. I’d rate my success as therefore a ‘maybe’ and a ‘maybe not so much’.

I’ll probably write some more thoughts about the last 5 years in coming posts. In the meantime I’ll finish with the kind of imagery that makes me glad to keep doing it. This is by Zemekiss Photography and was shot at the 2015 Vancouver Fetish Weekend. I found it on the Happy BDSM tumblr (where you can see other shots from the sequence). Happy people doing kinky stuff is a wonderful thing.
