Beautiful red lines

While I’m on a whipping theme, here’s an ‘after’ shot courtesy of Mistress Simone Kross (on the left). The whips aren’t quite as fearsome as the one from yesterday, but they certainly seem to have done an effective job on this slave.

I love having marks like this. I’ll inspect them immediately after a session, and then every morning and night as I’m changing. There’s something very satisfying about them, particularly if they raise the skin and I can actually run my hand across the surface to feel them. Partly it’s the reminder they give me of the session. The intensity of that moment. Partly it’s a sense of pride. I took it all without quitting. But mostly I think it’s the sense of connection. They’re the marks the dominant chose to give me. It’s a very personal gift and I’m always sad when they fade.

When a problem comes along

She certainly looks like she’s going to whip him into some sort of a shape. Possibly a messy red shape. That’s one hell of a whip.

I think you’d have to be a pretty brave masochist to volunteer to be on the end of this. My experience with single tails consists of screaming and writhing on the receiving end. I’ve never actually thrown one. Intuitively however, I have to think that with something this long, the sweet spot between ineffectual slapping and skin ripping agony is relatively small. Get it wrong and it’ll be a little late for safewords.

I’m a little curious where they shot this. Doesn’t look much like a typical dungeon environment. Although maybe I’m hanging out in the wrong type of dungeons. I do like that couch.

Goddess Diosa with very long whipThe lady is Goddess Diosa and you can find clips of her in action (including this scene and giant size version of this image) at her clipstore. I originally found this this image on the Rue Monorgueil tumblr.

Site Updates

I spent a little time this weekend cleaning up links and adding new ones. In no particular order, some of the changes included…

Adding Domina Liza’s blog to the pro-domme section of my blogroll. It’s a new blog but I’m confident it’ll be an interesting one. She already has a post up about the bed of nails I referenced in an earlier post of my own.

Adding Princess Annie Domine‘s blog to the femdom section of my blogroll. It’s also relatively new, but I’m hoping her writing on how she finds her way into the real life D/s world will be of interest to both dominants and submissives.

Adding links to the Submissive Guide and Clarisse Thorn’s blog to the BDSM articles page. Both have a lot of good background reading if you’ve never encountered them before.

Adding some links to James Pendergrass’s fiction to the Femdom Fiction page. Check out his free fiction at SM Tales if you’re looking for some new femdom stories.

Adding the following tumblr sites to my Femdom Image page: Alternative Femdom, CBSteve, Littleman Rayburn’s Captions, Rue Montorgueil, Women Power and Worshiping Women.

Hopefully there’ll be a little something for everyone to enjoy in those new links. The image for this post comes from one of the new tumblrs, Alternative Femdom. I’m not sure of its original source, or exactly what the context is, but I do enjoy their two expressions. And, as they say, you can solve anything with duct tape.

Smiles

A few days ago I published a strap-on post entitled smirks. This one follows a similar theme, but is much more about smiles than smirks. The difference is a subtle one. Smirking is self-satisfaction, where smiling is much more about engagement with others.

Despite that distinction, both posts make me feel happy inside. That’s kind of an odd reaction to porn. Typically the intended response is one of arousal. These two shots definitely push my buttons in that regard, but that minor sensation of arousal is subordinate to the overall impression of shared enjoyment. Normally in porn the viewer looks to project himself into the scene. In this case they look like they’re having so much fun, it almost feels rude to do that. I just want them to enjoy themselves.

Giggity

Here’s a cuckold or tease and denial shot with a bit of a twist. It’s an all female couple enjoying themselves for a change, and rather than simply tie the slave to a chair, he has been both mummified and suspended.

In theory this has all the right elements to be a really hot shot. There’s no individually aspect I don’t like. Yet, it somehow it puts me in mind of Glen Quagmire from the show Family Guy. Weird, I know. I think it’s because it looks like the guy has been slowly lowered in over the otherwise occupied women. My internal mental movie has them blissfully making out, entirely unaware of anything out of the ordinary, while the naked mummified man slowly drops into frame. He’s happily  swinging back and forth, enjoying the scene, until one of the women catches a faint ‘Giggity, Giggity‘ floating down from above. Screaming and beatings ensue.

I always figured Seth MacFarlane must either be a little kinky or have hired some kinky writers. BDSM seems to crop up fairly often in his cartoons. There’s the sheep that likes shearing a little too much, the aurally masochistic dog and the cow that has its own ballgag. Not to mention the time Stewie decides he’s a masochist and wants to be tortured by Lois, or when Lois and Peter try a little roleplaying and BDSM (maybe a short ad before those last three clips).

Safewords

Salon has an interesting and disturbing article about people ignoring the abuse of safewords within the BDSM scene. I’ve heard similar stories before and while it’s depressing, I’m not particularly surprised. Closing ranks and suppressing internal dissent is a common trait in groups that are, or perceive themselves as, persecuted minorities. I don’t play in ‘the scene’ or attend community events, so other than pointing people at the article, I really can’t add anything to that specific discussion. However, it did get me thinking about safewords in general, and my personal experiences with pro-dommes.

The usage of safewords was a shock to me when I first started playing for real. Not that people used them, but the fact that some people didn’t. The BDSM community has done such a good job of promoting the idea of safewords that they’ve entered into mainstream discourse. If you surveyed a random sample of non-kinky people I suspect you’d find that the majority would know about the idea of a safeword, despite never needing one themselves. It’s an idea that appeals on a intellectual level as a clever solution to a problem and on an emotional level as magical secret word. After all the idea of transforming a situation with a nonsensical but powerful word, like Abracadabra or ‘Open Sesame’, crops up again and again in stories. There’s something innately appealing about that concept.

Among the different pro-dommes I’ve played with, I’ve noticed three distinct approaches.

  1. Pro-dommes that use a safeword.
  2. Pro-dommes that don’t use a safeword and genuinely don’t need one.
  3. Pro-dommes that don’t use a safeword and really should.

The first category is the most obvious one and, in my limited sample set, the commonest. You agree a word (red, pineapple, ouch, etc. ), and head off for kinky fun.

The second category is rarer but satisfying when you encounter it. I’ve never had a safeword when playing with Lydia and it has never been an issue. That doesn’t mean I’ve never stopped a scene because of cramping or some other significant problem, but it has always been easy to step away from the action and communicate normally. Lydia is also an expert at reading body language and subtle physical tells. I’m always amazed when we deconstruct a scene after the fact and she describes the little touches and glances she used to figure out where I was at mentally and physically. She’d make a hell of a poker player.

The final category is of course the problematic one. It actually manifests itself in two different ways. The obvious issue is of pushing something too far and putting the submissive in a situation where he’s withdrawn consent but can’t communicate that. The other more subtle problem is of going to the other extreme and constantly checking in with the submissive. It becomes impossible to relax into the moment if every action triggers a “Is that OK?”. Repeatedly being asked to regulate the scene intensity is not conducive to a submissive mindset. It feels like being forced into topping from the bottom.

In a strange way the dommes in this final category remind me of a problem I occasionally face when writing staff appraisals at work. Expressed coarsely it’s that idiots don’t know they’re idiots. Smart competent people have well developed critical analysis skills. Idiots, almost by definition, don’t. A good domme will choose either category 1 or 2 based on an honest self-assessment. A bad domme may confidently assume she’s category 2 when in fact she’s category 3.

As a result of this, despite my numerous good experiences playing without a safeword, I tend to think it’s wise to always insist on one when playing with someone new. If you’ve got domme who can genuinely run a scene without one, then you’ll not need to use it anyway. In time, as you get to know each other, it can be consigned to history. Alternatively, if you’re unlucky enough to find a domme whose critical self-assessment doesn’t align with reality, then you’ll probably end up very grateful you insisted on selecting one. I should also add that none of the pro-dommes I’ve ever named and written about here fall into this unfortunate third category.

If all else fails, and you find yourself needing out of a scene, then “lawsuit” is always a good backup option. Or, more boringly, simply “safeword” itself.

Rapt in rope

I spent several hours tonight entrapped by a rather large amount of rope. Somewhere between a 100 and 150 feet of it by Lydia’s estimate. I’m not sure we’ve ever used that much before, except perhaps in a couple of suspension scenes. In this case I was flat on my back, with a rope harness around the torso acting as an anchor point for all the other strands that captured my limbs. There were also electrics, clamps and chopsticks involved at various times. Oh, and classical music. Normally that wouldn’t be torture in itself, but when you’ve got a microphone and a sound activated electrical device hooked up to your genitals, well lets just say you don’t want too many rolling drums or crashing cymbals.

We didn’t snap any photographs, but I thought the one below seemed appropriate for a couple of reasons. Firstly, there was a head harness involved, although in my case it was a single strand as a knot gag and then a pair of strands as an inverted Y across my nose. Secondly, nipple caressing was also featured. Unfortunately, it was the other way around, and done immediately after the removal of four really vicious little clamps. That means every touch, no matter how gentle, was agony. It takes a particularly cunning sadist to twist something that should be pleasurable into a painful torment.

His chiropractor would not approve

I like the bowed shape the guy is making here. The vertical rope, with him curving back to receive the flogger creates a nicely composed scene. I’m not sure if it was originally in black and white, but it certainly helps the shot, with the two of them silhouetted against the dappled tree.

However, after tweaking my back last year, I can’t look at these kind of shots without wincing. I’ve got to think that the reverse flex is really hard on the lower disks. At first I thought it was just how he’d chosen to stand. But as I study it now I’m wondering if there are stinging nettles in front of him. If so, that’s a particularly devious predicament bondage set-up.
