Smiles and Champagne

Continuing the happy BDSM theme – here’s a shot from the recent International FemDom Summit in Bucharest. Technically I guess it only shows the dommes smiling. It’s not clear what the footstools think of the whole situation. However, I’m going to assume their happy about it. I think I would be.

I have to admit I wasn’t aware of the Femdom Summit, but judging by their twitter feed it seems like an interesting event with a lot of great attendees. You can read a blog post on it by Mistress Ayn here. There’s also a twitter list of the attendees here.

Smiles and Strappado

This lovely shot – courtesy of Elise Graves and Bondage Liberation – reminded me of the old tumblr ‘Happy BDSM.’ Its content was exactly as its name suggests and was featured here in past posts.

The original site is now sadly defunct, gone the way of most tumblrs, but I’m a little surprised that nobody has thought to resurrect the concept. For kinky folks I think its contents effect was much the same as seeing posts of cute animals doing adorable things. It’s an ‘ahhh’ moment – a little hit of endorphins and happiness before we go about our day.

You can find the original image, along with others from this scene, via this tweet. Elise is a professional rigger, bondage model and domme based in SF. You can find her Bondage Liberation site here and her twitter feed here.  The male performer is the West Coast based Ruckus.

Lamps – Part 5

Regular and attentive readers will be aware of one of my stranger and longer running series – submissives as lamps. The first entry was back in 2011 and the fourth and last (that I can find) was in 2018. I have a feeling there was another entry a year or two back that was unfortunately lost in the big blog blowup.

Anyway, that’s a longwinded introduction to a 5th (or possibly 6th) entry to the series. Apologies for the delay to everyone out there who have been eagerly awaiting its return. This one comes courtesy of Lady Lux of The Netherlands. Her submissive is so happy about the scene he’s positively glowing.

You can find Lady Lux’s professional site here and her Twitter feed here.

Loviante Artwork

Today’s post features an artist I’ve not covered here before – Loviante. Their work is often quite extreme and explicit, but also has a surreal, dreamy feel to it. Or maybe a nightmarish feel if your kinks don’t happen to run the same way! I like it a lot, while also sometimes finding it a touch disturbing, which is quite something considering all the kinky art I’ve seen over the years.

The work below, sourced via Twitter, is entitled ‘Temple on Madison Street.’ It’s a lovely variation on the theme of worship, with the detail in the Temple’s frieze being particularly beautiful.

You can find more art from Loviante via their Twitter feed and at their DeviantArt site.

The Latest Cat Cafe

This photograph – courtesy of Mari Cherry – looks like what you’d get if you asked an AI to digest my twitter feed and create a single image to represent it. There’s bondage, nakedness, service, food/drink and a cute pet. It’s a shot with a lovely calmness to it. A lot of forniphilia looks forced and uncomfortable. This looks uncomfortable in just the right way.

Mari Cherry is an SF based domme and rigger. You can find her primary site here and her Twitter feed here.

Georgian Sexcapades

Anyone interested in the history of kink and femdom will probably enjoy this blog post by Anne O Nomis. It gives a behind the scenes glimpse of a new TV series about the history of sex and specifically about an episode on Theresa Berkley (featured here in a previous post). Working in 1820s London, using her own studio equipped with custom BDSM furniture, she was arguable the first modern dominatrix. Although she’d not have used that term to describe herself. Hopefully the show will live up to the level of research and care that Anne O Nomis has clearly put into it.

The above image dates from 1752, slightly before Theresa Berkley’s time. It’s a British print that now resides in the Library of Congress.

Mad Tomy added to Femdom Artwork (again)

I realized recently that another casualty of the big blog blowup was my Femdom Artwork entry for Mad Tomy. That was a shame, as his work is great and a lot of fun. It doesn’t closely align with my personal kinks but I love the energy of his pieces. Plus, pictures of powerful women beating down men can never get old. I’ve therefore rectified the situation and re-created the Femdom Artwork entry for him.

You can buy artwork from Mad Tomy via his site and follow him on Twitter.

Kinky Toys

One of the most surprising movie franchises in recent years has been the Lego series. None of them are the next Citizen Kane, but they’re surprisingly watchable nonsense. It blows my mind that two of the biggest creative companies in the world – Disney and Lucasfilm – can take one of the biggest franchises in the world – Star Wars – and make a total hash of the various prequels and sequels. Yet at the same time someone can take a bunch of kids plastic blocks and turn it into a successful billion dollar movie series.

Shown below are are shots from a possible new addition to that series. After Lego Batman we have Lego Baton, aka Mistress Baton as captured by Bad Legoman. Their expressions are great as are his shiny red cheeks. Come on Hollywood – a wisecracking dominatrix with a sturdy right arm would make for a great character in your next Lego movie.

You case see more shots of Lego Mistress Baton punishing her miniature submissive via the original twitter thread.

Movie Recap

One of the things lost in the big blog blowup was some posts on mainstream movies with femdom themes. I got a question from a reader about one of them, which made me think it’d be worth recapturing them in a post here.

The newest is Sanctuary, starring Margaret Qualley and Christopher Abbott. When first featured here it was just playing the indie festivals. Now there’s a new trailer out and it’s due for widespread US release in May. It’s billed as a drama / dark comedy and the reviews for it are looking good.

They / Them / Us is a 2021 movie starring Joey Slotnick and
Amy Hargreaves as divorced parents exploring kink. I don’t think it ever got a widespread release, but Amazon Prime subscribers can stream it for free.  You can read a review of it here.

Finally, there’s Love and Leashes from last year. This got a fair bit of positive coverage and likes on femdom Twitter when it first came out. Good to see a positive and generally happy portrayal of femdom in a mainstream movie. Netflix subscribers can stream it for free.

Apologies for repeating past posts, but I figured it was worth recapturing the lost links, particularly given that some of the movies are now more accessible than when first featured.

Life’s Rich Tapestry

Warning: A sad blog post ahead. Not this specific on. I mean this one from Mistress Simone. It’s on her experiences with her submissives that have passed away. A thought provoking and moving post.

I was going to follow it up by commenting on how complex the pro-domme and client relationship is. But that’s not entirely true. I’d hate to put off nervous potential clients by over over-emphasizing that aspect of the dynamic.

They can be very simple. A mutually beneficial but limited interaction where someone scratches a kinky itch and someone else earnings a living. They can be delightful but ephemeral. The stars align, it’s magical, and then you never manage to meet again. They can be boring and unfulfilling. I’ve had a sessions – admittedly just a few out of many hundreds – that I thought were just meh. The chemistry isn’t there and you have to move on. And occasionally, as Mistress Simone describes, they can be deep, long lasting and complex. Like most relationships, you never know what you’ll find until you try.

This is Mistress Simone as featured on her professional site. She’s a Chicago and Saint Loius based pro-domme. You can find more of her thoughts via her twitterblog and prodcast.
