When I first saw this Jay Em image I just figured it’d be an amusing one to feature in my series of medical themed posts. The above post title then flowed pretty naturally from the subject matter. However, no sooner than I’d written the title than the thought struck me – “I bet that’s a real thing. Spanking Therapy. It sounds exactly like the kind of thing that somebody would offer.”

It turns out I was right. In fact it’s available from multiple sources. There’s the Spanking for Wellness site, that offers therapeutic spanking in a non-sexual atmosphere. There’s the Spanking Therapist who combines ‘supportive counseling with a structured spanking plan’. For those in NYC, there’s the NY Spank Clinic which offers to help with stressful and emotional difficulties in life. For those wanting a little more discipline with their therapy, there’s Ms. Aria who offers to ‘help people who need assistance breaking habits, changing their behavior, resolving issues, achieving goals, or simply letting go of tension.’ And those were just the ones I found in a few minutes searching.

Personally I’m more a fan of the playful and sexual side of spanking. But for those who want to combine personal growth with heavy blows to the buttocks, it’s nice to know their are options out there.

The Duke of Burgundy

As far as film titles go, The Duke of Burgundy isn’t an obvious one to use for a period piece movie focusing on a lesbian D/s relationship. It is also rare to see this kind of opening statement in a mainstream newspaper’s film review…

While it might be unusual, the majority of the reviews seem to love it. There’s that one in the Guardian, another in the Austin Chronicle and this one in the IndieWire. From their descriptions it seems to be a movie that really has an understanding of the dynamics of BDSM and some of inherent contradictions in a Dom/Sub relationship.

It’s not released until October 10th, but I’ll certainly be looking out for it after that. In the meantime it gives me an excuse to feature a fun vintage shot. These two ladies seem to be enjoying both nautical dress-up and spanking.

Memories of beatings past

A final image in my trio of spanking related shots. Like my previous post this features a red bottom and a happy couple. Although judging by the crop she’s holding, this could have been more of a beating than a spanking.

When I first spotted this (on the Work Is Never Over tumblr) it seemed vaguely familiar. I thought I might have featured it in the past. However, hunting through my old posts I found this one, which looks like a shot taken earlier in the same scene. I’m not sure if I should be impressed or troubled by the fact that I could make that connection back to a post from 2011. I can’t help thinking that the brain cells that remembered this couple would be better used for other things.

Nails on a hot ass

I’m continuing the spanking theme from yesterday’s post with another happy lady spanker. In this case, judging by his red cheeks, it looks like a shot from towards the end of the experience.

Reclaiming spanking

I’ve featured articles by the spanking enthusiast Jillian Keenan in the past (here and here). Her latest in Slate is an effort to reclaim spanking as a purely sexual activity. She’s fed up with people accusing her of indulging in an act associated with children and the overtones of pedophilia that go along with that. It’s an opinion I’ve a lot of sympathy for. It seems perverse in all the wrong kind of ways that striking children is the socially acceptable version of spanking while consenting adults having fun is the screwed up one.

Of course her article gives me a chance to feature an entertaining spanking shot. This lady looks like she’s having a good time with her wooden spoon. And when she get’s tired of it, there’s a whole array of whacking tools lined up to try out.

Spanking as an orientation

This post brings you pointers to a couple of articles by the writer Jillian Keenan. Neither are specifically femdom, but I think they’re interesting and relevant to kinky people in general.

The first is an old one from 2012 on how she came to terms with and shared her spanking fetish. I’m sure anyone with a deeply buried and unfulfilled fetish will be able to relate to her predicament. I only wish everyone could resolve their issues with their partners as neatly as she seems to.

The second is a recent article in Slate on the topic of Is Kink a Sexual Orientation?. This is a well trodden path and there has been much prior writing on it. For example, I featured this by Clarisse Thorn in a previous post. While the topic might not be a new one, I think Jillian has put together one of the better articles on it.

I’ll probably throw together some more thoughts on the orientation topic tomorrow, but for now I’ll finish with a spanking image. Given that Jillian is a spankophile that seemed appropriate. However, it’s not exactly a traditional spanking shot, given the area being targeted.

The odd little moments

I’ve had many powerful and moving experiences in kinky play over the years. Some of them have been almost transcendent in their intensity. Yet it’s typically the odd and funny little moments that stick in my mind afterwards. The giggly aftermath of play or a funny one liner during the set-up.

Last week is a good case in point. I had a fabulous session with Lydia, involving much happy moaning and floaty feelings. At one point she was doing a series of piercings in my butt cheeks, which proved to be surprisingly painful. I wasn’t shy to communicate this fact via some loud groaning, to which Lydia commented it was strange the piercing hurt so much as “…over the years I’ve done terrible things to your bottom.” Despite the intensity of the moment, I couldn’t help laughing out loud to that line. And ever since then I’ve smiled to myself whenever I happen to think of it.

Sadly we didn’t snap any shots of the piercings in question. So I’ll finish the post with a shot of another lady doing terrible things to someone’s bottom. That’s a pretty good impact indentation.

Ethical erotica (cont)

After my last post I realized it would be remiss of me to discuss ethical erotica and not mention Pandora Blake. She could be a poster woman for the movement. In the past she’s written posts on fairtrade porn, feminist porn, ethical porn and the censorship of them all. She’s covered how to make it yourself, how to sell it yourself and what can happen when you do that. She even gave away material that her credit card processing company wouldn’t handle.

Her main site is called Dreams of Spanking and, as the title suggests, features much spanking. There’s a variety of gender combinations which I think makes for a pleasant change. Personally I can admire all manner of well reddened bottoms. There’s also a tumblr, which is where I found the image below.

Do It Yourself

I’m always fascinated by the pornographic imagery people create for themselves. I don’t mean the kind involving naked volunteers and cameras, although that can be fun. I mean images that people modify via tools like photoshop to make them better reflect their fantasies.

This isn’t because the end results are particularly impressive. Most of the time it’s exactly the opposite and the manipulation is quite crude. What I like is what they say about peoples fantasies. They speak to the strength of their desires and the very specific fantasies that exist. Despite the vast amount of erotic imagery out there, people still feel the need to create fairly obviously manipulated images that push their internal hot buttons. They can look past the visual glitches and still get off on them. I think they’re great examples of both the creative urge, and the breadth and depth of our sexual desires.

The image below is one of the better examples of the genre. It looked a little off to me from the moment I spotted it, but I still liked the idea and clever way it had been composed. Particularly neat is the hairbrush on the chair. If you look at the original the hairbrush is a new addition.

I’ve actually been a 49ers fan since I was a kid, so I lost most of my interest in the proceedings after the NFC championship game a couple of weeks ago. However, it does give me a chance to feature some football themed femdom. Perhaps the Denver cheerleaders should have given this a shot? It certainly would have made for a more entertaining show, and it couldn’t have made things any worse.
