Study in contrasts

I like this image, but I’m not sure why. I’m never a big fan of kinky images set in derelict urban environments. It seems such an impractical place to play, and I’ve no fantasies around getting tetanus shots. This combination of wrist rope bondage and a potentially suspended position (if he slips) also doesn’t look too clever. Even if this is really safer than it looks, I’d hate to think of anyone with limited BDSM experience trying to emulate it.

All that said, I think it does work well as an image. I’d guess it’s the contrast between Domina Liza’s very tailored and smart appearance, the obvious decay of the space and his naked, stretched and vulnerable pose.

Domina Liza

Domina Liza is a UK based pro-domme. You can find out more about her at her main site. I found the image via the Dominalova tumblr.

  1. Yea but . . . . those ropes are just wrapped around his wrists and it looks like if he doesn’t hold them they would fall off.
That falls into the same category as handcuffs that are so loose that the model has to ball up his/her fist to keep their hands from slipping out.
It just ruins the photo for me – because it screams “fake”.
I mean, how long does it take to do some decent bondage for heavens sake :-).

    1. That’s kind of funny, because for me if the bondage were more serious, I’d like the photograph less :). I agree it looks kind of sloppy and likely to pull away. But if it was tighter, I’d be even more concerned about a slip breaking his wrist bones. That risk already slightly spoils the image for me, as I just can’t help putting myself in his place and thinking what a sudden drop of body weight onto those ropes might do.

I suspect the set-up was done to look as realistic as was possible, while ensuring that if he fell he could slip out of the ropes. I’m guessing most fetish photographers don’t have the resources to use a safety harness and photoshop it out afterwards!

  2. I did a scene with my Domme when she had a commercial space with ceilings at least ten feet tall. She had a chain hanging from the ceiling to which she had attached a steel bar. I was attached to the bar with wrist restraints and made to balance on a wooden block about 6 X 6 inches square and about about 9 inches in length (but now vertical) while we did the whipping part of our scene.

It was quite a feat to stay on the wood block while enduring her extensive single tail whipping. Tipping off the block meant that I would be dangling from my wrists from the steel bar. Not good. My concentration was torn between two very different tasks.

And yes, she was doing her happy dance. 🙂

    1. Combinations of pain and predicaments are always interesting. On one hand I kind of like to just lean into the pain and soak it up without added distractions. On the other, combining sensations and being mentally overloaded is also fun. The constant shifting of concentration can really screw with the mind.

I think if you’re doing it with proper padded wrist restraints then this position is fine. I just hesitate to do it with ropes, given all the delicate bones that exist in the wrist.

      1. I agree about using rope. No way! She used heavy wrist restraints, the kind with a bar to hold onto, to better keep balanced on the wood block. Those were attached to the bar.

Still it wasn’t easy staying on the block. I kept swaying one way or the other, in part of try to avoid her whip (not possible anyway) and partly just because it’s impossible to keep your balance on such an unstable platform. Falling off the block and putting a sudden shock to my shoulders and wrists wouldn’t be good.

Unfortunately she had to give up that space. That particular predicament was one of my all time favorites.

        1. Yeah, the proper wrist restraints are definitely the way to go. They spread the load so there’s no unfortunate bone snapping events.

I actually think the ability to move under a whipping makes it worse. It’s somehow easier to take for me if I don’t have options. As soon as my brain gets too involved then it all gets a lot more complicated 🙂
