More Sniffs

That last post has inspired me to do a series on a scent theme. I don’t think I’ve done one of those before.

Scent is one of those things that held little interest for me when I started exploring kink. Now – for reasons I can’t explain – it has turned into a major kink. Odd how these things evolve over time. I think part of the appeal is that it’s intimate, but in a slightly dirty degrading way.

This makes for a nice twist on the usual shoe licking scene. Her hand behind his head, forcing him into the shoe is a particularly nice touch. I’m afraid I don’t have an attribution for the source.

  1. For me, scent has always played a central role in my explorations of kink. As you say, part of the appeal is that it is intimate and “dirty” at the same time. Being “forced” or made to sniff a Mistress’s panties or sweaty shoes and feet is really an invitation for more intimacy, albeit in a non-traditional way.

Scent is also, as I understand it, our most primal of senses, and so must tick a lot of buttons and get “intimately” entwined with our other senses when encoding pleasurable experiences in our minds, so that memorable sights and sounds, will also trigger anticipation for the scents we associate with those memories.

    1. The entwining of scent and emotion is an interesting point. Feels like that is a two way street. They get linked and then reinforce each other. Latex is a bit like that for me. Started as a minor thing, but now it’s quite a strong anticipatory trigger. Ditto for more intimate things like panties.

Thanks for taking time to share thoughts.

  2. When any of the five traditional human senses (smell, sight, touch, taste and hearing) are taken away, lost, etc. the others find a way to make up for that loss. Making that part of a couples kinky play can be a huge turn on for some. It doesn’t take a lot of creativity for a Domme to leave their sub with nothing but the sense of smell. Having to identify your Domme’s panties by their smell, among 5 or 6 others, perhaps some of her friends worn panties, is a great way to keep you focused and aware of the smell of your surroundings.

  3. Scent play – when applied to general bodily odours – just does not do it for me. In fact, I find it a real turn-off. Even the idea of it.

Which is odd. For all the reasons that others have mentioned (the intimacy, the degradation, the sense of being forced, etc.), it really ought to appeal to me.

I think that the explanation might be that, in my fantasies, the Mistress is – in the words of the song – ‘perfect, a pure paragon’. Her hygiene is impeccable. She simply does not have any (even slightly) malodorous qualities. She smells of nothing but cologne. And I think I carry this fantasy figure into what I desire in real-life sessions.

    1. Interesting. That’s not how I think about scent, but I can logically see how it could work like that for you and others. Plays into the untouchable goddess fantasy. Thanks for sharing that perspective.

  4. Fragrance is always a part of our relationships. Some may prefer a natural scent, others the sensuality of a nice perfume or cologne, and then there are the scents (odors) from our bodies.

For me, this is a partucularly sensual photo. The idea of submitting to a confident woman who believes every part of her body and that her scents are sacred is very exciting. Being instructed, or forced to inhale the fragrance of her warm, steamy shoe just vacated by her foot is a definite turn on. The same would be true to have the warm ball of her foot strategically placed over my nose.

It would be the same for me to enjoy her ass, possibly any gas she might release, and the armpits. It’s all about submission, but everyone has their likes (turn-ons) and dislikes (turn-offs)

Great post and a nice series.

    1. Glad you’ve enjoyed the post and series! I’ve been a little surprised how many comments I’ve gotten on it, so definitely a topic I’ll return to at a future point.

Interesting how many different ways there are to enjoy scent and fit it into a dynamic. Much more complex thing than it would appear.

      Thanks for commenting!
