I renewed my domain name registration for this site this week. A couple of hundred bucks for another 3 years of internet existence. It feels like money well spent. With social media, big tech and credit card companies continuing to make a mess of the internet, it’s nice to have a bit of it under your own control. It might not be changing the world but it’s my little soapbox to stand on.
Not sure what’s the right image to commemorate a DNS registration, so I’ll simply go with some visual loveliness. This is Marie Sauvage from an article on her Shibari practice in Purple Magazine.
Thank you for being willing to pay to keep your excellent site going. I’m not sure whether the new ID rules in the U.K. are going to impact your site but here’s hoping they don’t. It does appear that the New Puritanism is gradually forcing sites out of existence, recently a favourite spanking site of mine “SpankedHortic” on WordPress was closed down without warning and it’s not the only one to have disappeared.
The new puritans do indeed seem to be springing up all over. No idea what the impact of the new UK laws will be. They seem to apply to companies and this is very much not a company. Normally I’d say thank goodness for the robust US freedom of speech laws, but I’m not sure how they’re going to hold up under the assholes currently running the show.
