Artificial Leather

I continue to be intrigued by the progress of AI image creation. My anecdotal observation is that erotic image creation is lagging behind the best general examples right now, probably because the main tool creators are keen to avoid the legal/PR controversies that explicit imagery is likely to lead to.

That said, there are some good kinky examples around. For example, I like the shot below, published here on the Strict Dresscode Enforced account. You still might guess it was AI – the background is kind of wonky and the leather a bit too shiny – but despite that it’s a really well done example. There’s enough detail and nice touches that my brain doesn’t instantly reject it as unreal.

As I wrote before, I think kinky creators have a natural advantage here over regular porn. While straight porn is hard to mistake for anything else, kinky porn can sometimes look like something from a mainstream movie. This shot could be femdom or it could be a scene from the latest Netflix thriller. That ambiguity should allow kinky content creators access to the latest and greatest tools without running into censorship issues.

    1. I agree. My favorite shots always trigger my own imagination about what’s happening and why. Ambiguity gives room to spin your own twist on the scene.

  1. Text like name and agency badges as well as tattoos are typically off. Hands/fingers and feet especially shoes look weird. maybe it’s just me but those little details throw images into the uncanny valley for me.

    1. Hands and feet used to be a dead giveaway, but they seem to be getting better at them. Or creators are getting smart to keep them out the way, like this shot. Text is definitely still a problem. Be interesting to see what improvements happen there.

I’m guessing that we’ll see big improvements when they get smart about selective editing. So you can separate out things like badges or background and tune them separately, then have it intelligently merged together. That degree of control seems like it’d fix a lot of odd little things that throw images off.

  2. Your earlier posts on this inspired me to go out onto the Internet and have a go – not at photo-realistic images, but in keeping with the unrealistic and flattering classification here of my blog, ‘art’ using ‘Stable Diffusion’.

Mixed results… I have been meaning for a while to put some of the more successful ones but your post today gave me an opportunity to cash in on this site’s immense traffic to drum up some inspired me to put it up, so here it is for anyone who might like that kind of thing:

    1. Interesting pics. I like the 3rd Gal Gadot one a lot. The ‘Japanese’ ones are also pretty good. I may have to borrow one to feature in a future post!

Playing with the tech is still on my todo list. Midjourney seems to get a lot of the positive press, but that involves using Discord and I really don’t have the time for that.
