I’m not sure it’s possible to own too many toys. That’d be like owning too many bottles or wine or too many Ferraris. However, it might be possible to own too many toys for the space currently available. That seems to be the point being approached in the scene below. When there’s barely room to fit the submissive in, then maybe it’s time to do some spring cleaning.
Based on this page I believe this is a Mistress Zena. Unfortunately most of the links on that page are dead, making me think the space owners and Mistress Zena are no longer practicing.
Kind of like trying to have sex in the junk drawer.

Well, at least it’s clean and organized. And, to be fair, mayyyybbeee there’s more space in the room than what is shown in the photo. I mean, it’s possible.
I did occasional indy sessions in my 4th-floor walkup tenement apartment in the East Village in NYC for about 3 months, until I had a bad experience with a stalker-creepy client and decided it was definitely not a good idea to let them know where I lived again, even if they passed screening. But my point is: most of my clientele were repeats who found my shoebox apartment crammed with books nonthreatening and “authentic” (I advertised myself, truthfully, as a grad student).
Also, in cities where urban space is at an astronomical cost, lots of people are….well, used to tiny spaces. I am unfamiliar with Belgium (in your photo), but Tokyo, Amsterdam, and Seoul immediately springs to mind. They will get their sex/kink on in CLOSET-sized hotels and dungeons.
I highly recommend two FASCINATING books about sex and kink culture in Japan (and they are chock-full of excellent photography):
“Pink Box: Inside Japan’s Sex Clubs,” by Joan Sinclair (my fave)
and
“Love Hotels,” primary author & photographer Misty Keasler.
Finally: In my observation, some clients get really turned on just SEEING the implements, even if it’s toys they are not personally interested in. They like to see them; sets the imagination wild.
Personally, I like spacious rooms, dungeon or hotel, for my sessions. Buuut….they can be done successfully in a shoebox. And, believe me, once Mistress Zena starts inserting those sounds, the last thing on his mind is going to be the clutter of toys in the room.

I like seeing implements and toys in a playspace. Not typically because it turns me on, but because it can give my ideas for next time! I never try and make suggestions or direct the flow mid-session, but at the end I might go “Hey – I noticed you’ve got one of those doodahs. Can we somehow work that into a session in the future?’
I can well believe your NYC apartment would have had an appeal, particularly for those looking for a more ‘authentic’ organic experience, rather than a big scary commercial space. I’ve also played in some smaller spaces, particularly odd little hotel rooms and it can be a lot of fun. With this particular setup though, I think it’d feel more like playing in the storage room of the playspace rather than the playspace itself!
