Just a little off the sides

I’m endlessly fascinating by why unexpected things can  elicit strong emotional reactions in people – both in the good and bad sense. I very much include myself in the target category, as even in my 40’s I’m still discovering stuff that can push my buttons in ways I didn’t expect. Normally that’s a good thing – it means there’s a fun new experience to explore – but not always.

One thing I only just discovered I had a strong negative reaction to was head shaving as part of a kinky dynamic. Isabella Sinclaire recently did a sequence of posts with the female submissive Greyh0und who’d been shaved just a few days before. From the comments a lot of people liked the look, but I personally found it very disquieting. I think because it puts me in  mind of concentration camp prisoners, and once that thought enters my head there’s no getting rid of it. I don’t make that connection with shaved heads in daily life, but there’s something about the combination with a power dynamic that pushes my internal ‘nuh huh’ button.

For those that do enjoy it, the image below is from a fun video for Charly Calderon photography. Check it out if a woman on a mission with a razor is your kind of thing.

  1. Interesting.
Nowadays younger people with no hair may well be in the aftermath of chemotherapy for malignancy and this is also disquieting for the on-looker.
There was a TV personality in the UK – Jade Goody – who fell victim to ovarian cancer and endured aggressive chemotherapy with the loss of her hair.
I am sad to say she did not survive but curiously, she looked quite simply stunning with no hair, in fact she was much more attractive than when she had been before but this might have been in part to do with the physical and emotional journey she had made.
Recently, I noticed on the Yahoo email front page a series of pictures of a Canadian girl who suffered from alopecia and had no hair – but she has eyebrows, either because they were not affected of she has drawn they on and once again, she was quite simply beautiful – and was celebrating her engagement.
I think girls with shaven heads can look very attractive. Boys too, but the trick is to take great care of the eyebrows! A shaven head with no eyebrows? Hmmm. Avoid if you can …
Finally, I think the video Paltego has posted is great fun. I am sure the guy will survive and prosper!

    1. I have to admit to having a slight fetish for long hair, so they may well play a little into my opinions here. Although a short punky look or a tomboy type cut can also be appealing. Like I mentioned in the post, it’s not so much the lack of hair on its own, but the combination with a imprisonment vibe that squeeks me. But obviously my kinks and preferences are definitely not others!

      Thanks for the comment!

  2. From my perspective giving up one’s strength (a la Sampson & Delilah) by allowing one’s head to be shaven is really a small submissive concession to contribute to something that might evolve into something more fun and erotic. Unless it has an impact on occupational optics, where’s the harm?

Personally, I don’t have that much hair left that giving it up is a great concession. (Besides I always wanted to wear a presidentially ginger hair-piece [joke]. Okay, maybe a Lady Ga Ga do, but I digress.)

There are a lot of men and women who peg their ego and sense of attractiveness on their hair. I understand where Head shaving might be a huge disincentive. On the other hand, is part of submission learning to let go of one’s ego?

    1. I hadn’t though about Sampson and Delilah. That probably should have been a good subject for a follow-up post!

I definitely understand the intellectual appeal of the activity and the associations to sacrifice and ego. But my post wasn’t really about is it a good or bad thing to do, or why someone should do it (which is of course entirely up to them), but more about the curiosity of discovering a thing that disquieted me. That’s not necessarily a logical thing, and certainly not an argument to do or not do something, just an odd thing to stumble on deep into ones kinky career!

Thanks for stopping by to comment.
