Ouch

This article on sex related injuries and mishaps made me laugh. Alcohol, slippery substances and horny naked people can be a dangerous combination.

I’m a little surprised there are no kink related stories in there. You’d expect that given the potential risk of most BDSM activities that there would be a greater potential for mishap. One possible answer is that kinky people plan carefully and practice the risky parts. More likely that BDSM accidents are just less funny. Humor comes from surprise and unexpected juxtapositions. Describing how you hurt your boyfriend by hanging him from the ceiling and sticking a cattle prod up his ass is less a surprise and more of a ‘duh’. Bad sex can be funny, while bad BDSM can be a court action.

Talking of playing with cattle prods and suspension, here’s a lady doing exactly that. Given it was shot by the professionals at Divine Bitches, I’m sure it was a mishap free scene.

  1. I’m going to ignore the cuts, bruises and burns I’ve had as they are just part of the fun. Similarly I’m going to ignore the back trouble I’ve sometimes had from over enthusiastic bondage as party of a learning experience. Given that I can only think of two occasions when play has caused incidents that were probably amusing to an outsider. Once a suspension induced a sensation similar to seasickness and I was violently ill but fortunately I had been released and Mistress realising something was wrong had allowed me to rush off to the toilet. The other came during my first experience of electro-play. Because my Mistress is used to me being reasonably stoic during most punishments had not tied me down so I was face up on a bench when she applied an electric shock to my genitalia. Unfortunately I was so surprised by the sensation that my leg flew up and I kicked her in the face knocking her over. Obviously I was mortified and she was annoyed. A quick 50 strokes of the cane applied mollified her and left me very sore. Now we can look back on it and laugh but I suppose there is a serious point here.
If you are trying something new it is wise to consider what could go wrong and take steps to ensure that all participants are safe.

    1. Back troubles are a particular problem I’ve run into, so I can certainly sympathize there. Fortunately inadvertent kicking is something I’ve managed to avoid, as I can imagine that wouldn’t go down a storm with the average domme!

It sounds like you were lucky with the suspension. In my experience they can take a while to get out of properly, and so throwing up before you’d been released would have been particularly unpleasant. Most dommes don’t have sick bags to hand 🙂

Definitely wise to consider all the possible failure modes of a scene before getting into it, particularly if it’s a new thing for either of the participants.
