Flogs like a girl

To say someone ‘throws like a girl’ is an age old schoolyard insult. Yet it turns out there’s a solid scientific basis to it. Studies have shown that in may ways boys and girls are far more similar than people think. In areas such as academia (spelling, maths, vocabulary, etc.), behavioral (negotiation, impulsiveness, self-esteem, etc.) and physical (balance, jumping, aggression, etc.) the differences are small to zero. The main stand out areas of difference turn out to be masturbation, attitude to casual sex and throwing. Oddly enough the popular press has ignored the first two, but jumped with great interest on the last one. There have been a bunch of articles on it, some suggesting the reason is nature and others that it’s nurture.

The reason I mention all this is because the image below brought it to mind. A key part of throwing effectively is good rotation, where the entire body is involved a pivot to generate maximum speed at the point of release. From her stance, it looks like Kimberly Kane has mastered this skill, and is about to impart a nice high velocity thwack. I hope he appreciates the fact.

A study in contrasts

When browsing tumbrs there’s so much pornographic content available that it can begin to blur together. The endless sweaty naked bodies all start to look the same. Occasionally however, something will stop me dead in my browsing tracks. Here’s an image that did exactly that when I came across it on Wonton Art.

There’s the obvious use of color contrast, with the submissive bright, cheerful and fleshy, while the dominant is grey and forbidding. More significantly, there’s also the stylistic contrast. The submissive is male but feminine, lithe and sensuous. He reminds me a little of a Japanese videogame character, something from a role-playing series that features an angst ridden and sensitive male lead. In contrast the dominant is unambiguously female, but imposing and serious. She’s striding away, her point clearly made. If he’s from a modern videogame, then she’s from a Victorian melodrama, possibly featuring orphans and a cruel governess.

I’m afraid I don’t know the artist, but I would love to see more works from him or her. Please leave a comment if you can help me attribute it.

His chiropractor would not approve

I like the bowed shape the guy is making here. The vertical rope, with him curving back to receive the flogger creates a nicely composed scene. I’m not sure if it was originally in black and white, but it certainly helps the shot, with the two of them silhouetted against the dappled tree.

However, after tweaking my back last year, I can’t look at these kind of shots without wincing. I’ve got to think that the reverse flex is really hard on the lower disks. At first I thought it was just how he’d chosen to stand. But as I study it now I’m wondering if there are stinging nettles in front of him. If so, that’s a particularly devious predicament bondage set-up.

Making his O face

That would be ‘O’ as is in ‘Owww’.

Two great expressions here, caught at just the right moment. She looks very satisfied at the effect of her flogger. For his part, while I’m not sure satisfied is quite the right word, he’s certainly responding very strongly to it.

I’ve never been whipped or beaten while inverted. I have to think it would ratchet up the intensity quite sharply. It’d be very disorientating for one thing. I also think it’d increase the sense of helplessness, hanging so vulnerably with no way to catch yourself if you were to fall. I guess I should add it to my kinky ‘to do’ list.

Serenity

After all the long, argumentative and wordy recent posts, I thought a return to a little visual loveliness might be in order.

These three images caught my eye for a number of reasons. She’s obviously very beautiful. I love the contrasting black of the lingerie and hair, with her delicate skin tone and slash of red lips. I also like the setting. Warm woods and fabrics make a nice change from dungeon drabness. But that really grabbed me was her serene expression. She’s not aloof or cold, just calm, composed and in control.

Just do it

This shot first caught my eye for its dynamic spontaneous nature. It’s from a commercial site, but doesn’t feel overly produced. She’s not dressed in a particularly ridiculous outfit. There’s not a lot of kinky gear lying around. Just a woman having fun swinging a flogger and a naked man reacting to it.

However, on closer inspection I was kind of puzzled by his footwear. He’s naked guy getting beaten on in the great outdoors. Does he really need training shoes to protect his feet? It’s not a flattering look. Although maybe Nike has taken to sponsoring femdom material to make-up for Tiger’s numerous philanderings. I’ve heard that the BDSM endorphin high is similar to the high from long distance running, so there’s definitely cross over potential. Forget the Air Jordan, how about a Leather Isabella line of restraints?
