I’m guessing from her expression, his desire is likely to go unfulfilled. Or maybe he can be the dominant one, just as long as he does exactly as he’s told.
This drawing for Playboy magazine is by the British cartoonist Francis Wilford Smith. According to his Wikipedia page he was a man of many talents. He did cartoons for Punch, Esquire and The New Yorker. He worked on advertising campaigns for major companies, wrote books on pin-up magazines and was a collector and expert on Blues and Gospel music.
When two switches are married — like my wife and I are — things get even more bizarre sometimes. Our version would be both of us on our knees, with each begging the other to be the dominant one tonight.
Fortunately, we’re mostly never at the same spot on the “switch pendulum,” unless we’re passing each other at that boring vanilla center. Mostly.
Have you ever resorted to flipping a coin when you have happened to find yourself on the same side of the pendulum? 🙂
Or is trying to get the dominant vibe on when you’re not feeling it just never worth it?

We’ve rarely been on the same side of the pendulum, but it does happen. Easy enough to resolve when both of us have the “dominant vibe” going, because one of us usually wants it more and knows which buttons to push on the other. The flip side is the real problem in our house. Trying to “get the dominant vibe on” when you’re not feeling it has been hit or miss for us, and usually miss. We end up like that couple in the first season of Billions when their scene didn’t click: “You want to just eat ice cream and watch TV?”
