Gaga and Maga

I was planning to write a third and final post on kink and VR tonight, but that’ll have to wait. I’m taking a timeout post to talk about the Grammy’s. I have exactly zero interest in the award show itself, but my eye was caught by two of the outfits on display. I think we actually had both sides of the kinky top/bottom divide represented.

Firstly, there was Lady Gaga in the outfit below. I can’t see a domme ever doing a scene in something like that, but it’s clearly inspired by all the dominatrix fashion cliches. Most of the time when the press reports someone was sporting a dominatrix look it just means they had black boots on, but Lady Gaga really went for it here. That’s a pretty full on fetish outfit.

On the other of the coin, there was Joy Villa sporting a Trump themed ‘Make America Great Again’ outfit. Now I know that might not look kinky, but keep in mind where she’s going. This is a show full of LA liberal showbiz types. The evening was predictably packed with jabs at Trump. So I have to say that’s a pretty masochistic thing to do. It’d be a bit like turning up at a PETA rally in Lady Gaga’s famous meat dress. You have to know you’ll be hated for doing it, so maybe that’s the thrill?

  1. “Most of the time when the press reports someone was sporting a d…x look it just means they had black boots on”

You nailed it here. I don’t even bother to look at the pictures whenever I see the word “d…x” in a news site, simply because I know it’s just going to be boots or a leather jacket.

I feel sorry for Gaga sometimes; she works hard to be edgy and original, but once in a while she just stumbles across Madonna. And maybe it’s a NYC thing, but at soem point fetish wear will cease to look “edgy” and then we’ll all be bored.

    1. I don’t know much about her music, but I am impressed on the occasions I stumble across her in popular culture. She seems interesting, and she doesn’t seem too bothered when people draw comparisons. i.e. She’s not super defensive or touchy about it. Although, as I said, my knowledge here is really sketchy.

  2. Mmm … let me try domin8rix and see if that’s acceptable for “your” overly prudish censorship software.

Saw that pic – from the waist up – in a German magazine and the fashion editor went overboard about the outfit. Black loo brush bristles around her arms and neck … More scratchy than edgy in my books.

She’s talented in her own right; is Gaga. Plenty of proof of that around. I agree with Tom she should stop competing with, or trying to outdress Madonna. And she could start with avoiding those ridiculous platform soles under her hooves. No woman needs ‘m to optically ruin a perfectly decent pair of shoes or boots. But then again: “De gustibus non disputandum est”

    1. The bristles are definitely kind of odd. Scratchy is not sexy. I actually hadn’t noticed how extreme the platform soles were – I think my eye was drawn to her legs 🙂

And thanks for educating me on a whole new expression. I’d never heard that Latin before, but will never file it away for later reference!
