Happy Pride Weekend

A lot of people have been celebrating Pride festivals this weekend. The recent and very welcome supreme court ruling that legalized gay marriage across the US added an extra dose of cheer to this year’s events. I’m still in awe that in just under 20 years we’ve gone from DOMA to the White House being rainbow illuminated to celebrate full legalization.

I wanted to find some rainbow themed femdom art for this Pride related post, but that’s a tricky thing to track down. Instead I think this striking piece makes for a good alternative. Its packed with colors, love and happiness.

Colorful strap-on artworkI’d guess the artist name is Klimt, but I haven’t managed to track down any more information than that.

    1. It’s kind of confusing. Looking closely at the lower left label I think it’s not a list but actually the name of a tumblr called ‘Things that make me horny’. And that tumblr seems to be the original source for the tumblr image chain. I didn’t find it there, but its post looks like the first: http://thingsmakemehorny.tumblr.com/post/44593568096/pegging-nach-klimt

The label on the post says ‘pegging nach Klimt’. I don’t think the tumblr owner is the artist, so I’d guess the tumblr owner added the text to the image. i.e. His tumblr address and the ‘nach Klimt’ bit.

What’s not clear is the meaning. Does it mean by Klimt an artist, or inspired by Klimt the famous artist? Not sure. It certainly could be inspired by Gustav Klimt.

  1. Tumble nach Klimt … “nach” = “nachahmen” = to immitate = to copy or to be inspired by …

The artist, whose name or alias is Tumble, has obviously been inspired by Gustav Klimt.

    1. Thanks for the comment Marga. As I said in my comment reply to Alex, now I look more closely I think the tumblr bit is actually the name of a tumblr. Which presumably means the tumblr owner edited the image and added the nach Klimt bit.

Google translate gives my ‘nach Klimt’ to mean ‘by Klimt’ but I certainly could believe it might also mean inspired by Gustav Klimt. Although if it was the tumblr owner who edited the image it could mean he or she thinks it was inspired by Gustav (rather than artist saying that). All in all a confusing bit of text!

  2. Google translate is about as reliable and trustworthy as a(ny) politicians yesterday’s campaign promises … Believe at your own peril! Caveat emptor!
Once you reach a certain level of proficiency in another language; you discover how the translator sucks … albeit often hilariously 😉

The “German -> English section” of the on-line dictionary I often use (dyslexion in axion and “leakage” between the languages I am more or less familiar with) tells me/us:
    “nach” = beyond ; toward ; a ; in ; inside ; into ; on ; per ; ad lib ; within ; according as ; according to ; as ; by …

I looked at several pictures by Klimt and compared them with the pic you uploaded and I feel there is a certain resemblance. But I’m neither an art historian nor a connoisseur … merely a kinky aerospace technologista; a long long way from home, with a few hours to waste.

So … second guessing “your” artist, I still think “nach Klimt” means “according to Klimt”.

    1. I’d certainly trust your expert opinion on the language issue rather than Google’s :). As I said, I definitely can see it being inspired by Klimt, given what (little) I’ve seen of his work. I think the fact that it’s probably captioned by the original tumblr poster is the really confusing element in this case. I’m going to keep an eye out for any similar works to see if that helps figure out the original artist, as it’s certainly a very distinctive style.
