First date

I hate first dates. Not dating itself. Just the starting part.  I dislike the carefully choreographed dance of over-thought emails needed to set-up a suitable meeting. I worry about how and if I should slide the topic of kink into the conversation. The cynical mathematician living in my brain computes the worldwide ratio of first dates to successful relationships and whispers that I’m probably wasting my time. Most of all, I hate the uncertainty of the end. Do we hug, kiss or fuck? Seeing as I’m British I sometimes settle for shaking hands, which might help explain why I’m still single.

I need to meet up with a few more ladies like the one in the drawing by Rodzo below. The man might not be all that comfortable. The whip might be painful. Oxygen could start to be an issue. But at least he doesn’t have to worry about that awkward moment on her doorstep at the end of the evening.

  1. HOT POSTCARD!

And I’m with you–first dates are crummy and awkward.

One of the good things about being a woman is that one can pretty much control how they turn out, though. If you want the dude to come it, he comes in. Adios at the restaurant, it’s adios.

I have had a few that ended in handshakes, lol. My worst date ever was with a guy I met off the internet who seemed normal in correspondence. We met at a restaurant in Brooklyn and in the course of the conversation he said, in all seriousness, “I’m ready to have a girlfriend again. I’m tired of seeing escorts.”

    1. Well he gets +2 points for honesty, but minus several million for that particular perspective on dating. That should be in the top 10 list of things not to say on a date. Just below “I’m sure Mother would like you. She’s waiting in the car, can I bring her in?”

I’ve actually no problem with women controlling the end of a date. Just as long as it’s decisive. What I hate is the awkward hover with no clear signal. Past experience shows that’s a loosing situation long term, not matter what I do in the moment.

    1. Funny you say that, because I looked at this and immediately thought of my back and how I wouldn’t be able to take it for a long period :). I need me teenage flexibility back!

  2. Great picture, yes! Indeed, a very lucky bloke! First dates have plenty of potential to be nerve-wracking and dodgy, for sure! I agree with Miss Margo about the woman being ultimately pretty much in control… just as it should be!

This type of experience has never happened to me (on a first date, anyway! :-)) but I still vividly recall “getting off” unexpectedly with a girl I knew at one of the local discos who, although she was not the brainiest person ever, had a rather sexy aura about her, and knew it. She was wearing black leather knee-high stiletto boots and matching leather skirt, so I was hooked like a bee with honey! We had a few very sexy “hands-on” dances, etc… I drove her home, snogged and groped… but that was it for that night :-(. Never got another opportunity again!

Very mild by comparison to the above, but a pleasant, sexy memory nonetheless.

  3. After posting my initial message, I did wonder why I had done so… apart from being motivated by my exhibitionist streak, of course! I think it was in part because that pleasant but all too brief experience did illustrate in hindsight Miss Margo’s point that this girl too, the female, was pretty much in control: she used me, toyed with me as far as she wanted to and discarded me… frustrated and a little perplexed. Her prerogative, and I am sure she lost no sleep over it!

    1. I like Rodzo a lot, but I do hope no naive BDSM’ers are out there trying to mimic the poses. I’m not sure his men bend quite the same way normal men do!
