Bad television

I’m kind of ashamed to admit I immediately recognized the television series this image was captured from. It’s from something called ‘Legend of the Seeker‘, a series I’ve encountered while flipping channels late at night. It’s a perfect example of a program best watched with the volume muted. Beautiful people in exciting fetish wear, combined with terribly clunky dialog. I have to admit however, despite the terrible fantasy script, the creators definitely have a feel for kink and BDSM. Nobody could pack that many leather outfits and exiting torture scenes into a series without some kind of underlying kinky ethos.

  1. Yes, I’ve seen a few of these scenes, as well. What always mystifies me is how such a primitive culture can produce so many up-to-date, modern-looking leather Dominatrix outfits.

  2. No need to be embarrassed. I am pretty sure many of us feel the same way about Mord Sith! If the entire show were dedicated to her torturing male prisoners I would never miss an episode. Unfortunately the rest of the show is pretty weak. Without Mord Sith as the central focus it kind of falls apart and doesn’t really hold my interest. That’s a pity because her outfit alone gets five thumbs up! :-p

  3. Mistress & I absolutely delighted in this show. Beautiful women in leather with magical violet wands? Not to mention the Mother Confessors who now only could kick ass (while wearing long dresses) but you become a total slave at a touch. Oh yeah, where do I sign up! Have read a couple of the books, and the descriptions of how the Mord Sith “trained” their slaves reveals the author has some familiarity – research if not personal – with our lifestyle.

  4. The leather dominatrix garb is definitely a common fantasy cliche. I’m certainly not going to complain about it, because as ravensron says, what’s not to love about beautiful women in leather with magical violet wands? But there’s definitely something strange about a feudal medieval culture that can produce such amazing fetish wear.

One of Terry Pratchett’s early books (the only fantasy author I actually like) had a nice riff on this. I forget the exact quote, but his point was that any women going camping in the wilds was going to want something warm, comfortable and well armored. Tightly cut exciting leather wear really wouldn’t be an option.

I guess we can all be thankful for unrealistic artistic license.

  5. And here I thought I was the only 1. ;^) I love Tabrett Bethell’s character (Cara). Nothing wrong with light fantasy. And She can wear anything for warmth, comfort, or protection!
